Safety and consent first.

At many events, some people get approached constantly while others are overlooked. beep's mutual-scan design is meant to take pressure off the people who are approached more and give confidence to those who usually stay on the sidelines.

Every scan returns one of three private signals (Lime, Tangerine or Cherry) on your own device. There is no public rejection screen and no visible list of bad matches.

Mutual by design

A result only appears when both people scan. No one can see who you have scanned and there is no open list of nearby people.

Always a private result

Each scan gives one of three colours: Lime, Tangerine or Cherry. There is no negative "you are not a match" screen that anyone else can see.

Private by default

Matching runs on device in local-only mode. No feeds, no profiles to scroll, and event data auto-expires after the pilot unless anonymised.

Safety features for guests

Clear consent, private signals, and no public rejection moments.

  • Mutual scans only: two people must both scan before a result appears.
  • There is no negative "you are not a match" screen that anyone else can see. You always get a private colour on your own phone and decide what to do with it.
  • No swipe decks, no DMs, no public profile to judge or screenshot.
  • Local-only mode keeps scans on device; organisers see anonymised stats only.
  • Badges and event data expire after the event window unless you ask us to keep anonymised data.
  • Clear boundaries: guests state topics to avoid and their social energy before scanning.

For organisers

We design for compliance and calm rooms: minimal data retained, clear guest consent, and visible guidance on how the three signals work so no one is left guessing.
